Creation (Creation to the Cross Holy Week Series- Day 1)

Creation- Day 1 of the Creation to the Cross Holy Week Series for Kids from In Our Pond

Focus: Creation
Activity: Seeds
Verse: Revelation 4:11

For our first day of Holy Week, we focused on Creation.  During dinner, we talked about what the kids already knew about creation.  We had watched March of the Penguins 2 the night before, so we spent some time going over the penguin life cycle as it relates to Creation.

Next, I got out an activity that I had made almost four years ago, when we first started homeschooling.  It is a seed matching game where you try to guess which seeds belong to which plants.  For our family time, we just passed around the cosmetic jars of seeds and tried to determine the names of them (watermelon seed, carrot seed, etc).  Some of the seeds were ones that we eat and others were very challenging.  It was a great way to talk about "seeds after their own kind" (Gen 1) and to add in some fun science to our Bible time.

I made sentence strips for Revelation 4:11 "You are worthy, O Lord God, to receive all glory and honor and power for You created all things."  We cut the strips apart and practiced putting the pieces in order to "write" out the verse.  Download the activity for yourself by clicking HERE.
