DIY Felt Travel Activities for Kids

DIY Felt Travel Activities for Kids // In Our Pond // free patterns // road trips // airplanes // children // sewing // hot glue // do it yourself // crafting

Early this year, I did a Travel Time Tuesday post with lots of magnetic road trip activities.  At the same time I was working on that article, I had the idea of doing this post full of travel activities made with felt.

I hadn't realized how many felt travel activities I had made myself prior to putting these pictures together.  It was fun to look back and them and remember the excitement and reason for making them.  I hope you enjoy them too!

Pirate Map // In Our Pond
I still really love the way this felt treasure map looks.  I made it free hand for our Pirate Road Trip.  It goes will with the Safari Ltd toob of pirate figurines.

Button Chain // Tips from a Typical Mom
This reusable, skill-building felt chain is perfect for kids who love making paper chains.  It's fine motor skills practice with production value!

I think "Serving Pink Lemonade" was one of the first blogs I found when I started looking at making Quiet Books for my kids.  My boys would love this car track.

I created these circle fractions for Pi Day a few years ago.  They're great for math class and fraction practice, but it would also make some sneaky learning on vacation.

Felt Dinosaur World // In Our Pond
This amazing volcano fits inside of an Altoid tin!  It's part of a dinosaur small world that I created for one of our road trips.

I find this sweet doll very eye-catching, and I would have enjoyed having her as a child.  This mom cut out a bunch of doll clothes for lots of "paper"
                                       doll fun.

Counting Pizza // In Our Pond
I also made this activity for a previous road trip.  It's useful for fraction and counting practice, but it also great for pretend play.

My kids would absolutely adore this Emmett activity.  I really hope the blogger puts up a patter soon.  She also has Paw Patrol Puppets with Free Pattern that you have to check out!

Spider Web Weaving // Dani Fressato
There are many types of thread weaving styles online, but I thought this spider was adorable.  You could also make it a Spiderman theme if you have a kid that likes that guy.

Color Pattern Blocks // In Our Pond
These blocks were very cheap and easy to make and would be great for pattern making practice.  They can also be used for stacking and counting.

Paint Pallet Color Matching // In Our Pond
This is a very simple busy bag activity that would be great for a toddler.  I made it with a cardboard cake board, clothes pins, and felt.

Winter Animals Finger Puppets // Lia Griffith
I included this winter animal puppets to stand in for all types of felt finger puppets.  I think they're absolutely adorable.

Emoji Busy Bag from Views from a Step Stool
The Emoji movie and popularity of emojis in general means that even non-tech kids can identify one.  This busy bag has simple yellow circles and then a bunch of shapes for making your own expressions.

Tangled Quiet Book Pages // In Our Pond
Just this year, I made these Tangled quiet book pages.  One side is ribbon tying and one side is hair styling.

Felt Fishing Set from Leafy Treetop Spot
There are many styles of fishing games, but I like the details in this one.

Build-a-Bug Felt Box from Teach me Mommy
This mom has a lot of felt busy boxes (check them you) that are simple and creative.  My boys thought the bugs were very cute.

Button Pizza // Therapy Fun Zone
Kid can practice their fine motor skills and do some pretend play with this button pizza.  I recommend machine sewing the buttonholes for durability.

Button Snake // Kids Activity Blog
I liked the flower shape of this button snake.  There are other themes online as well if flowers don't appeal to you.
