Passover 2017
After a month of Passover posts (1, 2, 3, 4), it's finally Passover time! This year, we had friends over, a family of six. It was a bit crazy with seven kids under eight, but so much fun.
Supply List
- 1 leg of lamb
- matzah crackers
- bitter herbs
- grape juice
- asparagus
- charoset (recipe)
- hard plastic tumblers
- blue tablecloth
- dinner plates for 12
We started the evening with a slide show and storytelling time of Exodus, using pictures from this website. The kids did a great job listening and were very engaged the whole time.
After we heard the story of the Passover, we sang "I Will Sing Until the Lord." (here's the lyrics and music without video) My kids and I practiced the song all week to get ready for Passover.
The kids spent some playing while the Moms finished the dinner. For dinner, we had a roast lamb leg, unleavened bread (matzah) with horseradish and charoset for dipping, and asparagus. Because we had so many little kids, we saved our one cup of grape juice until the very end. Nobody spilled!
After another play time, we had mazah bark and spiced cool whip for dipping. Yum! As you can probably tell, the kids helped me make it (the sprinkles are left over "snowflake" ones from Christmas).
It was a great Passover. Next year in New Jerusalem!
This is the only picture I took that day, because I was enjoying myself too much. This is my husband and our friend looking at a contraption that my husband made recently.
