Mickey Ice Cream Bar and Cookie

For day two of Mickey week, I thought I'd do some Mickey play food!  I ended up with two felt food pattern ideas, although their shapes are very similar.  It's not an easy shape to sew, but the results are fun, and I'm sure your kids won't care too much how it looks.  I know my kids love these projects.  Scroll down for supply lists and directions!

Mickey Ice Cream Bar

SUPPLIES:
- black felt
- DMC floss
- large popsicle stick
- stuffing or extra felt

Cut out the Mickey heads from the pattern (I used the medium ones for my ice cream) and cut out two heads from black felt.  I like to use packaging tape to hold down the paper pattern while I cut it out.  If you're using fabric (like extra felt) or quilt batting for stuffing, cut out extra heads out of that material, too.

Decide which thickness you want to make your ice cream bar and cut two 12" x N pieces of black felt.  Also measure around the width of your popsicle stick and the length of your Mickey head (about 2-3 inches) and cut out a rectangle to make a casing for the stick (this is the same method we used on the marshmallows last week).  Fold the rectangle in half and sew down the long side and across one end.  Slip the popsicle stick into the casing.  Attach the craft stick to the felt casing with super glue or hot glue if you don't want it to be removed from the ice cream bar.

Take one of your strips of black felt and fold it in half.  Cut a slit in the middle of the strip half the width of the popsicle stick.  Unfold the strip and push the craft stick through the whole.  Sew around the slit to attach it to the stick casing.

Begin sewing the strip of felt around the outside of the Mickey head, taking care to line up the stick in the correct position.  When you have completely sewn the edge, add your stuffing or extra fabric layers.  To keep the stick from wiggling, add a few stitches to the top of the casing where you want the stick to stay.  Sew the second Mickey head onto the project, and you're done!

Mickey Sugar Cookie

SUPPLIES:
- black felt
- cream felt
- DMC floss
- stuffing or extra felt

This one is much simpler to make than the ice cream bar.  Just cut out one black and one cream Mickey head and one strip of 0.25" x 12" of cream.  Sew the strip onto one Mickey head and then attach the second one.  Add layers of felt in the middle like we did with the ice cream or stuff it.  Make a dozen and stock a bakery!
